Philosophy:

We believe that every child is capable of academically excelling when a solid learning foundation is set at the beginning stages of life. Parents, teachers, and child care providers must go beyond the bare basics when it comes to teaching a child. Teaching children with godly love and patience
is the key to healthy learning.

Adding fun and laughter to the learning day leaves life-long, memorable impressions upon each growing mind. It is important to remember that each child learns at a different pace and in different ways. For this reason, we strive to work with each child on his/her own academic level so that he/she will have a love for learning for years to come.

Our Staff:

Jovana Jones – Owner/Head Child Care Provider

I am pleased to say that I am a military spouse of 10 years and a blessed mother of three wonderful children. I have always had a love for children, but never did I imagine that I would own my own child care business. In 2001 I became a licensed provider through the military. There I received core knowledge and focused training which has been my bedrock of providing professional child care services throughout the next several years. In March of 2008 I received my Maryland state license. Now 8 years from when I first began, my passion for child care has grown even stronger. All thanks goes to God for blessing me with gifts of love, patience, kindness, and understanding. I am a proud provider by choice.

Beyond “Bear” Basics - Potential Staff

Beyond “Bear” Basics is a great place to work if one has children’s best interest at heart. Staff members will be strictly hired on a hand-selected basis to ensure they share the same values as the owner/head provider: patience, a passion for growth and improvement, and a love for children. We are professional in every way, and we work hard to provide outstanding care.

Testimonies:

"Bear" Basics has taught our family that quality child care IS possible to find. After a year of attempts at other centers (and homes) we have found everything we have been looking for in Mrs. Jones. My son adapted to the schedule at "Bear" Basics merely two or three days after beginning to attend. All of the children hug him and get excited to see each other in the morning as well as say their good evening's when each child leaves. There is a great balance between outdoor time and time indoors. Jaiden even talks about how much he liked his lunch and tells me how much he enjoyed his day EVERY day we get in the car. My son didn't only adapt to the scheduling or try new foods at "Bear" Basics, but he was potty trained in weeks. He was extremely excited to be on the potty at exactly 24 months and had only a handful of accidents thereafter. By 28 months he was not having any problems telling us when he needed to go and I really owe Mrs. Jovana all of the credit for her patience and persistence in this huge life-changing event for a two year old. As I am soon moving, I have planned my move around "Bear" Basics, making sure we are close enough that the commute will not be an issue. Jovana Jones is the most patient, loving individual we have yet to meet that runs a day care center. She means what she says, always lends a hand when flexibility is needed and is easy to communicate with. We are too happy to have found "Bear" Basics and should any of my friends need a provider in the future, I know exactly where to send them. :)

My daughter Mikayla has been attending Beyond "Bear" Basics since April 2008. During that time, it was just for daycare purposes only. Since that date, she has been Home-Schooled there as well. Her knowledge level has increased tremendously in that short amount of time. I couldn't be more pleased with this daycare. Beyond "Bear" Basics has been a blessing to me and my family. Jovana Jones goes above and beyond a normal childcare provider and she has done this on many occasions. I would highly recommend her to everyone!!!

We first enrolled our son, Isaiah, in "Bear" Basics when he was 8 months old. We had him in a large day care center from the age of 3 months old to 8 months and we were looking for more immediate care for our son that involved a smaller teacher to child ratio where our child could receive proper care. After searching for two whole months I stumbled upon "Bear" Basics- we have never been happier! As many young working parents, we don't see our child all day and it is always nice to know that he is in a safe, clean and caring daycare. Isaiah successfully learned how to walk shortly after his first birthday and began potty training shortly after his second birthday- and we are proud to say at 28 months Isaiah is FULLY potty trained thanks to Jovana's persistent routines. One other impressive detail is Isaiah can count to 10 with little assistance and can identify letters in the alphabet. He is always very happy and obedient in the evening when I pick him up which makes a big difference in our lives as we don't get to see our son all day. He has developed friendships and has many stories to tell in the evening during bath time and we couldn't be happier! We look forward to seeing more development in Isaiah growth in the future- Thanks, Jovana and thank you "Bear" Basics!

My son has been enrolled in Beyond “Bear” Basics since he has been 4 months old. I must say Beyond “Bear” Basics has helped us through different transitional stages thus far. I have seen the growth in him. Having my son at Beyond “Bear” Basics has made going to work, being a military wife, and graduate student a whole lot easier.

It has been a pleasure having Jovana as our provider. We are both working parents and had to go back to work soon after giving birth to our daughter. As first time parents we knew very little about raising our little one. Jovana has helped tremendously by working with our daughter to ensure she reaches each milestone of growing up. Our daughter is now on a set schedule, gets well balanced meals, and is very happy. The planned outings like going to the park, pool, and library are great adventures that our little one loves. "Bear" Basics is the right choice for our child's care.
